Ottasun
OTTAVA TEXTILE is a company working on outdoor yarns in the OTTASUN brand. Our company produces its goods by using Polypropylene, an olefin-based product, is used as a raw material.
Why Polypropylene?
In your outdoor yarn searches, you come across 3 types of yarn: Olefin (polypropylene), Acrylic, and Polyester.
In its most general sense, PP (polypropylene) is less expensive than acrylic and it is more durable compared to polyester. It is non-staining, antibacterial, and environmentally friendly. Withstanding 1500 hours UV stability.
Polyester is a good plastic, but it breaks down easily when exposed to air, salt water, and chlorine. Outdoor products have a lifetime of up to one summer season. It is characterized as being durable for 500 hours.
Acrylic, on the other hand, has the best UV stability and color fastness scores but contains harmful chemicals. And manufacturing processes are very expensive. It is quite hard to remove stains such as ketchup and wine.
Views of the world from them, such as OTTAVA Textile water footprint and carbon footprint. In terms of variables, the most environmentally friendly solutions are preferred. These garments are made from the most durable outdoor yarns. So OTTASUN brand uses olefin-based polypropylene, which has more environmentally friendly solution.
In general, if we collect the properties of outdoor yarns into a table,
Comparison Table for Outdoor Yarns | |||
Color Fastness | 10 | 10 | 6 |
UV Resistance | 9 | 10 | 9 |
Hygiene | 10 | 8 | 8 |
Resistant to Stains | 10 | 8 | 9 |
Price/Performance | 9 | 6 | 7 |
Water footprint | 10 | 6 | 6 |
Recycling | 10 | 10 | 10 |
Overall Performance | 68/70 | 58/70 | 55/70 |
In light of the data in the table, OTTASUN olefin-based polypropylene yarns are used for outdoor fabrics turns out to be the best solution.
From this point on, let's take a look at how to use the Langley unit of measure.
What is Langley (KLY)?
It is used to measure the amount of energy that the sun's rays leave on the earth's surface for one year. It is defined as 1 KLY/year = 1.33 W/m2.
This value is the UV exposure that our outdoor fabrics will be exposed to in the geography in which they are used tells us about its deformation.
The graph below depicts KLY values in various parts of the world.
For example, there should be different resistant specialties to different areas such as Italian beaches and Qatari desert.
Yarn manufacturer of the outdoor fabric has to set the perfect values for on its on goods. Customer should share the region or KLY value with the manufacturer. Otherwise, the manufactured good for Italian environments will not fit with in Qatar’s conditions.
That’s why, we listen to customer feedback and use the best materials in the production of our OTTASUN yarns in industry standards.
STANDARD TESTS FOR OTTASUN
In order to maintain these standards, OTTASUN products are subject to standard test procedures.
Our standard tests:
• Dtex Measurement • Tensile Strength Test • Phenolic Yellowing Test • Color Fastness Test (ISO 105-B02) • Weather Conditions Test (ISO 105-B04) |
